The Serin at Steart didn't reshow this morning, but whilst I was waiting this Cettis Warbler sang in the open. Fantastic views of this normally skulking species from the roadside where the bird could be viewed without disturbing it.

Great Crested Grebes are showing well at Apex Park, Burnham. This one in the holiday village caught a small meal.

A great mornings birding on Brean Down today with loads of common migrants. Willow Warblers were everywhere, often feeding so close you can hear their bills clapping as they hunt small insects.

An average spring day with a few migrants became better with this nice adult Spoonbill at Westhay Moor.

This male White Wagtail on Berrow Beach was one of a few migrants present this morning.

Bit of a purple patch recently with Purple Heron at Shapwick yesterday added to the 'found' list. Attempts to see it again today failed, but during the tedium of waiting for the heron to fly out of the reed bed I took hundreds of photographs of Sand Martins. 99.9% were total rubbish, at least you can tell what this one is - though it's still far from great. |
